About Me
I’m Kenneth Russell.
I live in Hinesburg, Vermont. It’s wonderfully tranquil here, and that’s important to me.
I am a technology “user experience” professional and coach (among my other lines of work—see below). That means that I work to make technology useful and low stress, or even pleasant to use.
I love my technology. I’m able to keep myself organized, edit and store my photos, connect with my friends and family through texts, make free long distance calls, shop for things that are hard to find, pay bills, manage my bank accounts, visit with my parents by video every week, watch shows and movies with no commercials, and the list goes on and on.
Why I Do Technology Coaching
With so many amazing benefits— to learn, to explore, to shop, to socialize, to get up the minute information, to see your friends etc.—it seems very unfair that a person can get left out of enjoying all of this. I don’t want anyone to be left out of the immense benefits of personal technology. And it’s frustrating that the systems that make personal technology work for us can be too complex and time consuming to figure out or that it changes so frequently. Technology and the effort to use it can be tamed for the enjoyment of each person, at whatever level of experience they have.
My Work Experience
Teacher (BA)—to high school and college students and adults, breaking concepts down for step by step learning.
Occupational Therapist (MS)—over 20 years as a professional in rehabilitation services for adults with physical, medical, learning and mental health challenges.
Health & Wellness Coordinator—a SASH Coordinator and Housing Manager, working to help residents in senior living housing to manage the complexities of staying well and to find happiness and ease as we all get older.
Technology Coach —a big fan of technology since high school, have a web design certificate, lifelong work to improving the “user experience” for folks in many fields, currently an Information Technology student at Champlain College Online.
Qualities About Me
I am my mother’s son: I approach life with gratitude, and I approach people with warmth and genuineness.
I am analytical and pragmatic (taking problems apart and then patiently working one step at a time until I get to where I want to be)
I work to “accentuate the positive and eliminate the negative” as Bing Crosby sang. And I accept things as they are without judgment.
I am my father’s son: I am detailed, resourceful, and work until the job is done well.
I enjoy all kinds of people.
I handle messy situations and computers—no need to feel embarrassed or feel the need to “clean the house before the cleaning service arrives”.
My Personal Interests
I like wintertime, biking, vegetable gardening, the great outdoors, photography, cooking, reading, comedies, British murder mysteries and…technology.
